NWKRTC Belagavi Depot inducts new Volvo B11R Coaches - Buses enabled with Fire Protection System and Passenger Panic Buttons

NWKRTC (North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation) Belagavi Depot, Karnataka have inducted new Airavat Club Class, Volvo B11R multiaxle coaches into its fleet recently. A total of six new Volvo B11R coaches are scheduled to be inducted into the fleet in a phased manner in a span of few days. Four new coaches have been already delivered to the depot and two more coaches are expected to join the fleet soon.

As a strategy of modernizing its ageing fleet of Volvo B9R multiaxles, inducted since almost a decade ago, NWKRTC is now gearing up to induct and upgrade its old Volvo fleet with new Euro IV, Volvo B11R I-Shift AMT coaches. Two such coaches were inducted two years ago to the NWKRTC fleet under Belagavi depot in 2018 and they are running presently on Belagavi - Bengaluru - Chennai route. The corporation have already put a pair of the newly inducted Volvo B11R coaches on Belagavi - Hyderabad route, replacing the ageing Volvo B9R coaches. Other routes of four coaches are yet to be finalized, as told by the NWKRTC Sources. 

SEMI SLEEPER SEATS OF THE COACH : CALF SUPPORT PROVIDES COMFORT ON LONG JOURNEYS

The new Volvo multiaxle coaches are 14.5 mtr in length, powered by an Euro IV emission Volvo D11C - 410 HP rear engine with an enhanced torque thus providing more power to these buses on road. These buses come equipped with fire detection and suppression system, Vehicle location tracking and individual panic buttons for passengers, fitted on each row of the coach. By implementing new additional features on board these new coaches, Volvo buses India have been working consistently to meet the safety and security standards set by the Transport Ministry in India, as applicable through the Bus Codes. The fire detection and suppression system will help to provide added safety to the passenger against any mishaps due to fire, while the individual panic buttons on each row will provide the travelling passenger to immediately alert the bus crew in case of any emergencies. The panic buttons will also help improve on-board women safety for the travelling lady passenger. There are a total of 51 semi sleeper seats on the coach with calf support for a relaxed and comfortable journey on the long distance routes. The buses also have usb charging ports fitted between seats on each individual seat rows.
