VOLVO B7R is powered by a VOLVO D7E engine, which is BS III compliant and electronically controlled. It features a turbocharger and intercoller backed by a common rail technology. The engine offers a broad torque range, low fuel consumption and long service life with a 290 HP power output. The coach has an integral hydraulic power assisted steering along with a synchromesh manual gearbox. The B7R chassis features a full air suspension that is elctronically controlled. The Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) controls the air pressure in the bellows, to provide extremely precise regulation of the ride height with anti-roll bar included in the rear and front suspension.
All wheels of the coach are equipped with VOLVO disc brakes which are available only in combination with the new EBS5 Electronic Braking System (EBS) with a pneumatic back -up. The EBS control unit regulates the entire braking sequence and includes ABS. The coach also comes with advanced safety features like Frontal under protection system (FUPS) and Frontal impact protection system (FIPS).
The bus is equipped with a state of the art electrical system with the 2nd generation Bus Electrical Architecture (BEA2) an electronic data bus system. It is also used for data transmission, bus system control, monitoring and coordination on all devices installed on the bus and provides diagnostic information for driver and service support centre.
