My Visit to Volvo Buses India Ltd

I paid a visit to India's premium Bus OEM - Volvo India , Hoskote, Bengaluru (India) on 16th August 2017. My passion for buses started in 2012, with Volvo Multiaxle Coaches. With its launch in 2001, Volvo have reached a milestone in India within these 16 years of presence in India with its trusted products in terms of operations, dealership network and dedicated customer support.

Volvo India currently provides products in both City and Inter-City segments. The City segment is dominated by its 8400 SLF (Semi Low Floor) coaches across India, which has a 8 litre Volvo rear engine. Volvo provides a dominating Intercity range in the BS IV (Euro IV) range - 12 mtr Volvo B8R on 9400 chassis, 13.8 mtr Volvo B11R I-Shift Multiaxle on 9400 Chassis and the 14.5 mtr Volvo B11R I-Shift Multiaxle also on the 9400 Chassis.

The visit was aimed for a meeting with the sales team of Volvo Bus India, to share my insights and feedbacks to the team and to know more about the latest products that Volvo Bus India  deliver to the India. The meeting at the Visitor's Lounge was followed by a factory area visit, where i saw the production line of the 9400 chassis City buses and Intercity Coaches. Surprisingly i came to know about the Euro 6 - 8600 Chassis City Bus production for Europe at the Hoskote Unit, which had dedicated bays alloted like the 9400 City Bus and the Intercity Variant. Volvo India have also been building the Volvo 8400 for India in Hybrid variant. I had a chance to see a Euro 6 - 8600 Volvo SLF Coach built as a School Bus for France. The Left Hand Drive Coach had a superior finishing touch and cross seats belts for each individual seat as per European Safety Norms.

I had a remarkable factory tour which have helped me to understand the Volvo Products in a better way. The pure Swedish Engineering, which i have been praising since last 5 years was right in front of me taking birth and evolving into a finished product. It was a nostalgic moment in my life as a Volvo fan and as an entrepreneur to witness the birth of a world class product. My special thanks to the Volvo India officials who accompanied me and explained me about the products and its manufacturing process.
