ASTC (Assam State Transport Corporation) have recently got delivery of Volvo B11R I-Shift multiaxles for its fleet. Three such multiaxle semi sleeper coaches have arrived in Guwahati, Assam, under 1st Consignment from Volvo Buses India, Hoskote, Bengaluru. The new fleet upgrade is a part of the corporation's strategy to provide luxury and comfort ride for the people of Assam by connecting people and places. The coaches will run under PPP (Public Private Partnership) model.
Trusted sources say that, ASTC will be including more such luxurious coaches soon in its fleet. The new multiaxle coaches are powered by Volvo D11C Rear Engine and bear Automated Manual Transmission, called I-Shift in Volvo Terminology. The coaches are expected to soon launched by ASTC on roads for operation.
