KSRTC inducts new B11R Coaches for its Flybus Services

KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) have recently included new Volvo B11R I-Shift AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) multiaxle coaches in its fleet for its 'Flybus' services connecting Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru on Intra-State and Inter-State routes.

The new fleet of 'Flybus' were inaugurated on 8th January 2018 at Bengaluru Central Division of KSRTC, located at Shantinagar, Bengaluru. During the event, Sri H.M. Revana, Hon'ble Transport Minister; Sri Basavaraju Bulla, Hon'ble Vice Chairman, KSRTC; Sri S.R. Umashankar, Managing Director, KSRTC; Sri Ravi, Director (S & V), KSRTC; Board of Directors of KSRTC and other dignitaries were present during the occasion.

KSRTC started its first 'Flybus' Service to Mysuru on 14th Aug 2013. The first of its kind premium bus service and initiative in road transport industry in the country, Flybus services were also introduced on Kundapur route in the second phase. The first batch of these buses included eight premium 13.7 mtr Volvo B9R multiaxle  coaches with on-board amenities like pantry, chemical toilet, individual LED on each seat, Live-TV and real time flight details from KIAL (Kempgowda International Airport Limited), Bengaluru.

With a fleet upgradation strategy, KSRTC have now included 14.5 mtr Volvo B11R I-Shift AMT coaches meeting Euro 4 / BS 4 emission standards having on-board amenities like chemical toilet and real time flight details. The new route operations started in the new phase includes KIAL - Salem and KIAL - Mercara Madikeri. The new buses included have more seating capacity on 14.5 mtr chassis  than the earlier coaches built on 13.7 mtr chassis with a 2+2 seating configuration layout. The bus ticket fare (Adult) for the new routes are kept at Rs 800/- (+GST) on KIAL - Salem route and at Rs 1000/- (+GST) on KIAL - Mercara Madikeri route. KSRTC currently operates six 'Flybus' services on KIAL - Mysuru route and one 'Flybus' service on KIAL - Kundapur route. Under the new fleet expansion with new buses intake, the corporation will operate two 'Flybus' to Salem and one to Mercara Madikeri. 

On a future strategy plan, KSRTC now plans to operate 'Flybus' services connecting KIAL to Tirupati and Calicut. It also plans to introduce 2+1 seating configuration coaches on KIAL - Mysuru route soon.
